The short answer
At Visual Sector, a business website on WordPress starts at $499 and an online store starts at $699. Larger stores cost more because there are more products to load and more features to set up. Here is how our packages compare:
| Package | Starting price | Good for |
|---|---|---|
| WordPress website | $499 | Businesses, service companies, portfolios |
| E-commerce Silver | $699 | New stores, up to 50 products |
| E-commerce Advanced | $1,299 | Growing brands, up to 250 products |
| E-commerce Business | $2,899 | Established stores, up to 1,000 products |
You will find agencies in Miami that charge much more and freelancers who charge less. The number on its own does not tell you much. What matters is what is included and what you will still have to pay for after launch.
What changes the price of a website
1. Website or online store
A website that presents your business and gets people to call you is simpler than a store that has to handle products, payments, shipping and inventory. That is why stores start at a higher price.
2. Number of pages or products
Every page needs to be designed, written and set up for Google. Every product needs photos, a description, a price and a category. More content means more hours.
3. Platform
WordPress, Shopify, WooCommerce, BigCommerce and Magento all work differently. Some include hosting in a monthly plan, others need your own server. We explain the differences in our Shopify vs WooCommerce guide.
4. How ready your content is
If you already have your logo, photos and texts, the project moves faster. If you need help writing or organizing content, that is part of the work.
5. Custom features
Booking systems, member areas, integrations with other software or special product options add development time. Tell us about them on the first call so they are in your quote.
The ongoing costs to plan for
The build is a one-time cost, but every website has a few recurring costs. Ask about each one before you sign anything:
- Domain name: renewed every year. Our Advanced and Business plans include the first year.
- Hosting: needed for WordPress and WooCommerce. Our Business plan includes one year of VPS hosting.
- Platform subscription: Shopify and BigCommerce charge a monthly plan directly to you.
- Apps and plugins: some useful extensions are paid.
- Payment processing: every card payment has a small fee from the payment provider.
- Marketing: SEO, Google Ads and email marketing are optional, but they are how most sites get steady traffic.
Tip: a cheap website that does not show up on Google or does not work well on phones ends up costing more, because it does not bring customers. Compare what each quote includes, not only the price.
Questions to ask before you hire a web designer
- Is the price fixed, or can it change during the project?
- Will I be able to edit the content myself?
- Is the site designed for phones first?
- What is set up for Google before launch?
- What will I pay every month or every year after launch?
- Can I see websites you have built?
At Visual Sector you get a fixed quote before we start, a content management system to edit your site, and a team in Brickell you can call or visit. You can see recent projects on our Instagram.
